Police Launch Manhunt After Zimbabwean Woman Murdered in Malamulele

A 42-year-old pre-school teacher was found stabbed to death in a rented back room at Xitlhelani Village.

Police in Malamulele have launched a manhunt following the brutal murder of a 42-year-old Zimbabwean woman at Xitlhelani Village, under the Malamulele policing area.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, 20 January 2026, at approximately 06h00. Police were summoned to the scene and responded swiftly.

Upon arrival, officers were met by the owner of the house, who pointed out the body of the deceased lying on blankets on the floor in a pool of blood inside a rented back room.

Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the scene and certified the woman dead. She sustained a stab wound to the upper body.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending further investigations. However, preliminary investigations revealed that she was employed as a pre-school teacher at a local private school in the Malamulele area. It is further reported that the deceased and her husband had rented the room only a few days before the incident.

Police have confirmed that the deceased’s husband is currently unaccounted for. Authorities are calling upon Ngonidzashe Sibanda, a Zimbabwean national who appears in a circulated photograph, to present himself at the nearest police station, as it is believed that he may assist with the ongoing investigation.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in tracing the suspect or suspects to contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Silence Mabasa, on 082 319 9724, report to the nearest police station, or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Police investigations are ongoing.
