Police in Limpopo have launched an intensive manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with a violent attack on a woman in Mookgophong and the murder of his partner in Seshego.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Hlako-Mabetwa, is alleged to have brutally assaulted a woman with a sharp object in Mookgophong before fleeing the area. He is further alleged to have travelled to Seshego, where he allegedly strangled his partner to death on Monday, 26 January 2026.
Following the incidents, cases of attempted murder and murder were opened and have since been transferred to the Provincial Tracking Team to intensify investigations and ensure the swift arrest of the suspect.
Police have released photographs of the suspect to assist members of the public in identifying him. Community members are urged to exercise caution and to immediately report any information that may lead to his arrest.

Two Zimbabwean Nationals Arrested in Polokwane for Unlicensed Firearm and Illegal Immigration.

Police in Mahwelereng have arrested two Zimbabwean nationals following an intelligence-driven operation that led to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and violations of South Africa’s Immigration Act.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, after police received information about a suspect allegedly in possession of a firearm and ammunition at Extension 71 outside Polokwane.
Acting on the tip-off, police traced the suspect to an identified house in the area. During a search of the premises, officers recovered a firearm along with ammunition. A 34-year-old foreign male suspect was unable to produce a valid licence for the firearm and was immediately placed under arrest for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Further checks revealed that the suspect was also in the country illegally, leading to an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act.
Police continued with the operation and later arrested a second suspect, a 31-year-old foreign male, at a rental residence for being in the country illegally.
The two suspects, both Zimbabwean nationals, are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
